Program note
The work bajo el cielo quebrado, a ese hondor recóndito draws from the atmosphere and imagery of Los sonetos de la muerte by Gabriela Mistral. The poem evokes emotions and landscapes that find resonance within this composition: mourning, protective love, physical terrains laden with memory, the oscillation between suspension, tenderness, and abrupt outbursts, and a constant dialogue with the unreachable.
The titles and sections emerged from intuition and interpretive freedom rather than a literal translation of the text, and do not strictly follow the order of the sonnets. The work is articulated in four sections:
I. la azulada y leve polvareda de luna – unstable, luminous frictions
II. polvo de rosas, bajo cielo quebrado – suspended, slow
III. los pasos hondos de sombra – violently, obsessively
IV. nevazón de azucenas – snowing, melting
