Program note
A whisper grazes a horizontal wall of ice separating two rooms. Cracks begin to grow slowly and simultaneously. In the upper room, suspended time is illuminated by a glow of lava in the sky, which gradually melts and expands. Regardless of that temporality, whispers persistently caress the wall. In the lower room, time is stretched, dilated, and gelatinous. Everything is dark except for a spherical light radiating from the ceiling/ice wall as a reflection of lava in the upper room. From here, whispers sound like murmurs stirring the dark water. The cracks are on the verge of breaking through the ice, at the peak of tension. When the collapse occurs, water and suspended time mix in a multidirectional expansion. Both times converge and the water faces head-on the whispers of the other side.
The work is divided into five sections: I. luminous frictions II. disolvence III. melting IV. vertical crepuscles V. murmurs and dark sighs / caresses on the ice wall
Texts (French) Used in sections III. melting and IV. vertical crepuscles:
La lumière chaude sous-marine. Ramification timidement en croissance craquant lentement. De l’ombre à écouter. La peau impénétrable. Un murmure gris doucement effleuré. Laisse entendre les pas furtifs. Sur le fil du vallon glacial. L’abîme arctique sans saveur s’étend jusqu’au ciel. Les pétales de fleurs tombent et se reposent paisiblement.
